Skydance Bridge

A collaborative effort between architects and engineers to provide a pedestrian connection between the south side neighborhood (now part of scissortail park) to downtown.

The iconic structure was inspired by natural and manmade elements that define the state. The overall shape, inspired by the scissortail flycatcher (the state bird) evokes the bird’s mating ritual:  when the male dives with splayed tail feathers. The structure is also a nod to the state’s aeronautical and oil rich history with stainless steel “feathers” similar to airplane flaps cladding the oil rig like pipe structure.
